GURGAON: Another horrible death of a bright 19-year-old girl who scored 92% in her Class XII board exams — has yet again underlined the fatal consequences of achievement-pressure on young people today.
Kritika Khanna, who finished at Shri Ram School in Gurgaon this year, flung herself to death on Friday night from her 11th-floor balcony, apparently just because she failed to be admitted to Lady Shriram College.
Peer pressure seemed to be the main reason behind the suicide, police said. ‘‘Her parents have told us while most of her friends got admission in LSR, she got admission in Jesus and Mary College in psychology honours. This led to her taking the extreme step.’’
let me share the first question thrashed my mind after read this news,it was where is india going wrong actually ? how v can be so lenient towards next door generation ?
a cluster of government and non-government are acting in this field ,but still we gripped at embarrassing stage , why ?????

Shilpa, Raj to marry in autumn : her father

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, who became a household name here after her win on the reality show "Celebrity Big Brother" in 2007, is set to marry businessman Raj Kundra this autumn, her father has revealed in an application to an Indian court.
Shilpa and her London-based Indian beau formed a successful business partnership following her appearance on the reality television show. Their business empire includes a $16.2 million (10 million pounds) stake in the Rajasthan Royals Twenty20 cricket team and a recently acquired food company.
Shilpa's father Surendra Shetty revealed the couple's wedding plans in an application for his passport to be returned to allow him to attend the event. It was confiscated after he was charged with threatening a business associate he claimed owed money to his daughter, reported telegraph.co.uk.
In his application, Surendra Shetty told the court the wedding would take place between September and the end of December in Britain.

Her national costume had to look really exotic. Since Indian dresses look best with long hair, her short hair
came as a challenge. We offered her a wig but she refused because she is quite comfortable with her short hair. So I styled her traditional look with short hair. The outcome was pretty impressive.

She is going to ooze out a lot of Indianess at the pageant. Besides her National Dress competition, she has taken many more outfits from Ritu Kumar lines. Lots of tops, t-shirts, skirts, long dresses, short dresses. They all have an Indian touch to them. Some have mirror work, others have embroidery. The other day I saw a picture of her in a salwar kameez with other girls who were wearing sun dresses. She looked uber cool in salwar kameez. It made her stand out.

Her height, I think, is her strongest point and then comes her classic face. I see amazing confidence in her and hope that helps her bring the crown home!

INDORA(himachal pradesh) :In a shocking incident, a nine-year-old boy earned the dubious tag of being the country younges rape suspect after he was
booked for the alleged rape of a six-year-old girl after subjecting her to violent assault.
Charged under section 376 (rape) of IPC, the accused was granted bail by a juvenile court after spending a night in a police lockup.

And in what is getting to be a disturbing trend, the violation was reported days after three 10-year-olds in a Haryana school were booked for molesting a four-year-old girl studying in the same school.

Children of daily wagers from Jalora Mohalla near here, the two minors were home alone when the disturbing act apparently played out. They've known each other for years and used to play together. On Sunday, too, they were playing at the girl's residence while their parents were out for work. The boy apparently dragged the girl inside the bathroom and restrained her there. When she fought back, he allegedly beat her up before assaulting her, Indora police station (Himachal Pradesh) SHO Ramesh Rana said on Tuesday.

Police registered a case on the complaint of the victims parents, who found her crying and bleeding profusely when they returned home in the evening.

A medical examination of the victim and the accused confirmed rape. The accused had injuries on him, seemingly inflicted after the victim put up resistance, the SHO said. Picked up immediately after the police complaint, the boy was granted bail by the juvenile court in Una on Monday evening.

The unnamed teacher and her husband are said to be ecstatic about the pregnancy, which was achieved with fertility treatment after they suffered two miscarriages. They are expecting six boys and six girls and the woman is thought to be as much as nine months' pregnant.

But fertility experts have condemned the news, alleging the doctors who treated the couple are "irresponsible" and risking the health and lives of the mother and her babies.

It is not known what fertility treatment the woman had, but her husband was quoted by local papers as saying they had been expecting twins.

She is said to now be looking forward to hugging her babies and, according to her husband, has been told she can give birth naturally although experts say this is impossible.

The man, who was named only as Marwan and is a teacher of Arabic at a high school in their home town of Gafsa, southwest of the capital Tunis, told a local journalist the news was an "amazing and wonderful miracle".

"In the beginning, we thought that my wife would give birth to twins, but more foetuses were discovered," he was quoted as saying.

"Our joy increased with the growing number."

But Simon Fisher, a fertility expert from the University of Oxford, said the news of the duodecaplets was "horrendous" and said the doctors involved were "irresponsible" to allow it.

He said the pregnancy could have been achieved either because the couple ignored the advice of doctors and had intercourse during their treatment, conceiving naturally as well as through IVF, or religious reasons required all the embryos to have been used rather than some being destroyed.

"Whatever the reasons behind this, the chances of there being a happy ending are pretty remote," he said.

"The chances of all of them surviving are extremely remote and the chance of some of them surviving without any problems is unlikely - they are likely to have significant problems.

"Her chances of surviving depend on how well she is monitored. It will be a tremendous strain on her even if she is young and fit. IVF is practised responsibly all over the world and no one should ever get into this situation."

Dr Mark Hamilton, of the British Fertility Society, said the woman probably had ovulation induction treatment, which sees the woman have either tablets or injections to cause her to release an egg to be fertilised.

"Twelve babies seems extraordinary," said Dr Hamilton. "The woman could have been receiving ovulation induction treatment, which stimulates egg production. You don't have the same control as with IVF."

No one is thought to have ever given birth to 12 babies before.

In January, American Nadya Suleman gave birth to the world's longest surviving octuplets, conceived through IVF.

In May, a 29-year-old British woman, Nuala Conway, gave birth to the country's first sextuplets for a quarter of a century. One girl of the four girls and two boys, died last month.

In 1996, another Briton, Mandy Allwood, became pregnant with octuplets after taking fertility drugs.

She was offered the chance to terminate some of the foetuses to give the others a chance of survival but declined. The octuplets - six boys and two girls - were born over a period of three days and all died within an hour.

Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Shekhar Kapur has criticised Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni's remarks to give a 'tit-for-tat' treatment to the Americans after Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was detained at a US airport for two hours.

Giving the example of former president A.P.J. Kalam, who was also frisked in April at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here as he was boarding a flight of US carrier Continental Airlines, Kapur wrote on his blog: "I believe what happened to Shah Rukh was a huge blunder, but what happened to our Abdul Kalam was far, far worse. It happened on Indian soil."

"But I admired the calmness with which Abdul Kalam dealt with the issue himself and displayed so much humility. I expect Shah Rukh to do the same as I am sure he will. Only he can defuse the situation," Kapur posted on his blog www.shekharkapur.com/blog Sunday.

"Unlike our Cabinet Minister Ambica Soni, who said we should respond with a 'tit for tat'. What are you going to do, Ms Soni? Interrogate every American citizen arriving at our shores for an hour and a half? Or wait for Brad Pitt to arrive here? Cabinet ministers need to make more considered statements," he wrote.

Shah Rukh was on his way to Chicago to attend a function to mark India's Independence Day and was detained for two hours at the Newark airport after US immigration officials spotted the 'Khan' in his name.

Reacting to it, Soni had said: "I have always felt - even when I was frisked there (the US) - that the way they frisk us we should do the same for them here."

Kapoor says to make up, US President Obama should invite Shah Rukh Khan for dinner.

"What happened to Shah Rukh is a minor incident which we should protest about, yes. Ensure that this doesn't happen to an Indian public figure like him again and move on," Kapoor said.

"And President Obama, adept as he is diplomatically and politically, should invite Shah Rukh to a family dinner over beer and (view) one of his Bollywood films," he added.

Google Earth's Indian rival is finally here! Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) took a leap into satellite imagery of geographical regions with the launch of `Bhuvan', India's mapping application website.

Similar to Google Earth or Wikimapia, Bhuvan goes a step ahead. The application allows users to zoom far closer than the aerial view from a chopper.

Bhuvan is a web-based 3D mapping tool which uses images taken over a year by ISRO's seven remote sensing satellites, including Cartosat-1 and Cartosat-2.

The application will allow users to have a closer look at any part of the subcontinent barring sensitive locations such as military and nuclear installations. The satellites can capture images of objects as small as a car on a road.

This would provide a user with images having resolution up to 10 m. The degree of resolution showcased is based on points of interest and popularity, but most of the Indian terrain is covered upto at least six meters of resolution with the least spatial resolution being 55 meters.

Like Google Earth, Bhuvan will allow users to view cities and other places of interest looking perpendicularly down or at an oblique angle, with different perspectives.
